Having a compatriot at a high level of either a continental or global organisation serves as a great benefit to the country.
Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku’s rise to the 2nd Vice President position at the Confederation of African Football, CAF, is positive for Ghanaian football, according to Sheikh Tophic Abdul-Kadir Sienu.
Sheikh Tophic Sienu, the Senior Communication Manager, Communication Manager for the Ghana U-20 men’s team, and Media Officer of the Black Stars, called for Kurt Okraku to be supported.
Mr Okraku’s position means he gets to have an influence in key decision-making in African football, which definitely would be of immense importance to the rapid development of football in Ghana.
His continued backing and protection as CAF’s 2nd Vice President and President of the Ghana Football Association could lead to his elevation to the position of President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
Kurt Okraku is also the chairman of FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee. Unsurprisingly, his trajectory could lead to his becoming FIFA’s first black or African president.
