Rapper Kwame Yogot has accused Kuami Eugene of using dubious means in depriving artists who feature him of the benefits and right to entitlement to their songs.
According to him, Kuami Eugene used the backdoor to sell off the song he featured him to the leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako popularly known as Cheddar.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Tuesday, Kwame Yogot stated that Kwame Eugene did not even consult him but secretly recreated the song and sold it to Cheddar.
”It’s true that Kuami Eugene stole my music and sold it to Cheddar. What hurt the most was that, NPP contacted me first to buy the song. They offered 500,000 which is 5 billion or so but my ex record label insisted for 100,000 or so I rejected the offer simply because I didn’t want to be associated with any political party.”
”However, Kuami Eugene gave out my song to Cheddar without my knowledge. Meanwhile, I only featured you on the song and gave you the benefits you deserved,” he explained.
Kwame Yogot said he came out to voice out the truth when Kuami Eugene and all those who were closer to him refused to pick his calls to explain the motive behind the act.
”When Kuami Eugene failed to pick my calls and all those working closer with him didn’t pick my calls, I realized it was intentional so I came out to issue that disclaimer. Someone might get a false impression about everything since I rejected the NPP offer. This is the reason I fully came out to declare that he stole my song without my knowledge to give to Cheddar,” he added.
In moving forward, the “Biibi Besi” hitmaker said he is uncertain about featuring Kuami Eugene again in the future.
