GPL Week 31 Saturday Wrap: Accra Lions Dominate, Aduana Stars Triumph, Karela United Edge Nsoatreman FC

Date:

Accra Lions demonstrated dominance against Bechem United in their 3-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium during matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League.

Goals from Dominic Amponsah, Mohammed Yahaya, and Daniel Awuni secured the win for the hosts. Despite a strong start from Bechem United, Lions took control after Amponsah opened the scoring.

Yahaya extended the lead with a composed finish, while Awuni sealed the victory with a well-taken strike. The result ensures Lions’ position in the league for another season.

Elsewhere,  Aduana FC dealt a blow to Nations FC’s Ghana Premier League title aspirations with a narrow 1-0 victory on matchday 31. Despite Nations FC’s recent win streak, Aduana’s determination prevailed as Yussif Alhassan Chisah scored the decisive goal.

This loss places Nations FC in third position, while Aduana climbs to second, keeping their slim title hopes alive. With FC Samartex leading the table, the title race intensifies as the season approaches its climax.

Karela United secured a vital win against Nsoatreman FC on matchday 31, showcasing their determination to avoid relegation. Welbeck Takyi’s early goal gave them the lead, but Nsoatreman fought back to equalize through Collins Kofi Cudjoe.

However, Karela regained the lead with Fataw Mohammed’s goal, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory. This win elevates Karela to 12th position in the league standings with 40 points, while Nsoatreman drops to 6th with 45 points.

Karela’s focus now shifts to their upcoming match against Dreams FC, while Nsoatreman will host Accra Lions, aiming to bounce back from this defeat.
