Belgian Pro League club OH Leuven has officially parted ways with Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Toku, following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Toku joined Leuven in January 2023 from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv, where he had gained recognition for his skill and work ethic. His move was seen as a promising step forward, but his time in Belgium was disrupted early on by a serious injury.
He lasted just 22 minutes into his debut against KAA Gent before suffering an injury that sidelined him for most of the season. Though he returned to full fitness, Toku struggled to earn regular playing time, making only two more appearances for Leuven.
In a bid for minutes, the former Ghana U17 and U20 star went on loan to Denmark’s Aalborg BK and then Cyprus’s AEL Limassol.
Now 24 and a free agent, Toku will be seeking a fresh start to revive his career.
