Kofi Iddie Adams, the Sports and Recreation Minister-designate, has called for renewed passion for sports to drive development across all disciplines.
He made this appeal during the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elective congress at the Accra Sports Stadium on January 23, 2024.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, highlighted the need for stakeholder engagement to reignite public interest in sports.
“We need to bring back the love for sports. Funding remains a major challenge, and we must collectively address this issue,” he stated. “Rekindling passion for sports will attract more people and resources to overcome the funding gap.”
Mr. Adams also stressed the media’s role in fostering enthusiasm and promoting unity among sports federations to ensure progress.
“The media is critical in bringing back the love for sports. Effective communication and collaboration will be key to maintaining unity among federations and ensuring smooth development,” he added.
Mr. Adams is scheduled to face Parliament’s Appointments Committee next week for vetting to assess his qualifications for the ministerial position.
