Black Stars technical director Winfred Schäfer has named Benjamin Asare the best player in the Ghana Premier League.
The former AFCON-winning coach, Schäfer, was brought in by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to man the technical department.
Reflecting on scouting missions he undertook over the past two months, he concluded that Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalie Asare is the best player in the local league.
“Over the past two months. I have been visiting league venues and speaking with coaches and players. The best player I have seen is Benjamin Asare, and he is the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper.”
He continued in an interview with Medeama FM by urging the local players to work hard to merit a call-up to the Black Stars.
The heart of football in Ghana is in the local league, not only with players in Europe. I urge all players to work hard if they want to earn a call-up into the Black Stars.”
