His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the president and vice-president of Ghana, honour the Black Queens at the Jubilee House.
The Black Queens had just returned from picking bronze at the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which ended with Nigeria beating host country Morocco for their 10th title.
Led by the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Okraku, the players showcased their medals to the country’s leadership after having visited the Parliament of Ghana earlier on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
“The Black Queens have shown us what is possible when hard work, vision, and belief come together. Your achievement is a national one, and we are proud of each of you. This medal is only the beginning,” President Mahama said in an address.
President Mahama assured that the needed support would be provided not only to the Black Queens, but also to women’s football in Ghana in general.
He expressed his belief in the Queens’ ability to achieve higher in their next tournament.
