Ghana’s Swedish head coach for the Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, revealed he always believed in his players at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
He managed to lead Ghana to a bronze medal finish at the tournament, beating South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in a penalty shootout after losing the chance to reach the final.
Speaking to Max TV on arrival with the team at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday morning, Björkegren stated he never lost belief in himself and the team.
“I believed from the start, from the first time I signed here, and that’s the reason why I am here. We have been taking steps the whole time in the tournament, and it was evident in the game against South Africa,” Björkegren said.
The big Swedish coach has proved doubters wrong and is eager to lead the team to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
