Veteran musician, David Kotey Neequaye, known in the showbiz circles as King David, says getting Samini, then Batman, to be featured on his popular hit track “Ayefe Notse” didn’t come so easily.
According to him, he was stretched a bit by the artiste and his management team.
King David made this known during an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday.
He said after composing the song, he realised that he needed that “gyama” version, and Samini’s voice and style could be a blessing on the track.
King David said he therefore contacted Samini’s management, and they agreed, but it did not come on a silver platter.
“I approached him and told him that his style will suit my song. I spoke to his manager, and he agreed to come and do it, but it wasn’t easy. He stretched me a bit, but at the end of the day, I had patience with him, and he came, and we did a wonderful job on that song. It blew him, and it blew me too,” he added.
The track eventually won the Ghana Music Awards for Best Collaboration of the Year 2004.
