The head coach of the senior national team of Ghana, Carlos Queiroz has been sacked.
The Ghana Football Association announced an official mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The 73-year-old gaffer returned as substantive head coach of the Black Stars following Ghana’s average performance at the 2026 World Cup.
Queiroz initially joined the team as an interim coach after Otto Addo was let go with just two months to the start of the World Cup.
The GFA and Sports Ministry decided to retain him to effect stability in the team he led to the Round of 32.
Ghana’s start to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers has been disastruos, leading many to call for the head of the Mozambican-born Portuguese coach.
A local coach is expected to take the reigns.
