Pepe double sends Ivory Coast through

Date:

Ivory Coast are through to the round of 32 of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The West Africans are the third African nation to qualify for the next round.

Other African countries through so far are Morocco and surprise package, South Africa.

The Ivorians began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Ecuador. Amad Diallo came on as a late substitute to grab the winner.

In the next match, they surrendered a 1-0 lead to Germany, as the Europeans picked up their second win of the tournament.

Facing the proud little nation of Curaçao, Nicholas Pepe scored twice to ensure Ivory Coast’s passage to the next round.
