Essien Reveals Ghana’s Chances At World Cup

Date:

Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien has revealed what the Black Stars’ minimum aim at the 2026 FIFA World Cup would be.

The Black Stars of Ghana are one of ten nations representing the African continent at the fast-approaching biggest football tournament in the world.

Ghana, now under the leadership of 73-year-old former Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Queiroz, have been drawn against England, Croatia, and Panama.

Engaged in a conversation with Talksport ahead of the Soccer Aid Charity Match, Essien disclosed to former England international, Darren Bent, that Ghana would look to advance to the knockout stages.

He acknowledged Ghana’s failure at the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022, but insisted the country possesses what it takes to progress to the round of the competition.

Tournament favorites, according to Essien, would face stern challenges in their quest to conquer the world.
