Create System to Enable Ghanaians Learn Music At Basic Level— Akablay to Gov’t

Date:

‎Celebrated Highlife musician Akablay has called on the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA) and Ghana Educational Service (GES) to roll out a good system that will ensure Ghanaians learn music from the basic level. ‎

‎According to him, the change in curriculum has contributed a lot to the poor dynamics the music industry is suffering.

‎Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Thursday, the legendary singer whose real name is Anthony Ackah stated that many people in the industry lacked understanding and means to compose music.

‎”The Creative Art and Ghana Educational Service have to ensure systems are put in place for Ghanaians to learn music right from childhood,” he said.

‎Akablay maintained that it was not the work of musicians and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to put in place a system for young artists to know how to compose and produce music.

‎”When the youth go to school, GES has to ensure they learn music at the lower and basic level – from class 2 to the tertiary level. This will help them to have good knowledge about music even if not all will become musicians,” he added.
