In a press release issued on March 31, 2026, the Ashanti North Regional Police Command announced to the general public another successful intelligence-led operation.
Per the press release, six armed men attacked a driver conveying 14 passengers from Kumasi to Atebubu on the 26th of March, 2026.
Acting on intelligence gathered, a special operation team was deployed to Amakwa Dadey Hotel on March 30, 2026. Suspects were found sharing money believed to be proceeds of robbery upon arrival of the police.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 8 suspects, of which one, named Ibrahim Iddrisu, alias “Bule”, tried to escape from the police.
He attacked one officer with a cutlass and tried to take away his service weapon. He ended up sustaining two gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead by the medical officer on duty.
Numerous items, such as two live AK-47 ammunition clips, three cutlasses, one talisman, one ID card, a cash sum of GHC 15,717.00, eight mobile phones, a side bag, etc., were recovered from the scene.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command ensured the safety of all residents and road users and also encouraged the public to continue to cooperate with the Command in this worthy cause.
