Undav Strike Keeps Brave Black Stars On Losing Streak

Date:

Deniz Undav’s late strike denied Ghana of a well-fought draw in Stuttgart on Monday night.

The Black Stars of Ghana aimed for a much-improved performance against Germany after a 5-1 humiliating defeat to Austria.

Otto Addo fielded a defensive side against the Germans, who many thought would run riot against the Ghanaians.

Hope had appeared lost the Black Stars following their disappointing showing against the Austrians last Friday.

Arsenal star Kai Havertz sent the former world champions in the lead in first half stoppage time after a jittery Jonathan Adjei was to have handled the ball in the six-yard box.

Ghana showed promise in the second half with more attacking incursions. One of the attacks resulted in the equalizer when German-born Derrick Köhn broke free with a lovely move to square up Issahaku Fatawu for the finish in the 70th minute.

The highly spirited Ghanaian stars sought to hold onto a 1-1 draw with the backing of a loud Germany based Ghanaians in the MHP Arena.

As the game drew nearer to its end, up stepped the Kurdish-Yazidi-born Stuttgart star scoring the winner past the ever impressive Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, in his home stadium to hand the Germans a tiring win.
