‎Highlife music is not dead— Nana Asamoah

Date:

A German-based Ghanaian Highlife musician, Nana Asamoah, has dismissed claims that the Highlife music genre is no longer selling and has phased out of the musical system.

‎According to him, Highlife music is still receiving massive airplay not only in Ghana but also abroad.

‎Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, Nana Asamoah maintained that the genre was still selling; however, renowned musicians known for the genre were no longer singing actively like they used to.

‎”I don’t believe in the assertion that highlife is no longer vibrant and has died out of the system. Look, when you go to clubs and joints in Ghana, even in Germany, it’s still enjoying massive airplay. What has gone down is musicians like Kojo Antwi and Amakye Dede are no longer releasing songs like they used to,” he explained.

‎In filling the gap, Nana Asamoah revealed that he has prepared 100 recorded Highlife music tracks, which he would be releasing every two months alongside their videos.

‎He maintained that Ghanaians support highlife music and their love for the genre would never fade.
