Nigerian afrobeats sensation Davido has dismissed claims that he chose music to make money from the profession.
According to him, there were billions of dollars waiting for him if he had not even ventured that career path.
Speaking with Nigerian music executive, Bankuli backstage in Toronto during his 5alivetour, Davido vehemently declared that money was not his motivation in singing.
“It’s not for the money. I got billions of dollars waiting for me if I don’t work a day in my life today. Whether it’s 100 people, 10 people, or 19,000 people, it’s the same sh** for me. I love it. I love my job,” he said.
The “Available” hitmaker recalled the backlash that surmounted him after choosing the musical career path and expressed gratitude to all those who strengthened and supported him.
“There’s individual strength and mental ability that goes into this type of work, especially with a lot of odds against me. So it’s like, f**k I got to do it. I’m grateful to God, my friends, everyone who helped me, even people I don’t even remember,”
he said.
Davido also praised himself for not relenting an effort but kept on tight to make his dreams come true.
“And I’m grateful to myself for being hardworking,” he added.
