‎Nigeria bans a song airplay that criticizes President Tinubu

Date:

Nigeria has banned “Tell Your Papa,” a sound track that criticizes the government from being played on air.‎

‎The song which was sung by Eedris Abdulkareem slammed President Bola Tinubu and his administration for the current hardship the country was facing.

‎The track went further to urge his influential son, Seyi, to let his father know “people are dying” through hardship and insecurity and there “is hunger” in the country.

‎The National Broadcast Commission (NBC), which issues licenses and regulates the industry, through a letter ordered the track not to be played, saying “it violates the country’s broadcast code.”

‎It said Tell Your Papa’s content was “inappropriate” and “objectionable” adding that it falls short of public decency standards.

‎Released earlier in the week to remind the president about his numerous promises to transform the Nigerian economy.

‎The song has gained a lot of attention on social media and has sparked debate among the Nigerians regarding the economic and security situation in the country.
