Laryea Kingson: Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, others are not opportunists

Date:

Laryea Kingson, a former Ghanaian star, claims that he does not view current Black Star players Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams as opportunity seekers.

Stephen Ambrosius, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, and Patric Pfeiffer, three Ghanaian athletes who were born in Germany, have all changed their nationalities in order to play for Ghana.

Many claim that they are opportunists who only chose to represent Ghana once we qualified for the World Cup.

Laryea Kingson claims that these Ghanaian players who were born abroad are not taking advantage of us and that they would have participated if we had gotten in touch with them sooner.

“Everyone has his or her opinion but to the players, I think World Cup is a big stage for them and I’m sure that if the management tried to push and bring them early on I’m sure they will come because most of them especially Williams has done very well in the Spanish La Liga but he has not had the opportunity to play in the Spanish national team,” Kingston said

“Also, one thing we should know, the GFA had not approached him previously. if they had approached him, he would come and play. It goes to the other players as well so for me I think it’s not that they are taking advantage but they love to come and play for their country.”

At the 2022 World Cup, the Black Stars will face Portugal in their opening group game on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, and Korea on November 28 at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan. and on December 2 taking on Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
