2026 FIFA WCQ: Ghana pick crucial away win, Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan top Senegal

Guinea-Bissau played out a goalless draw against Ethiopia, while Egypt handed a 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in Cairo to remain top of Group A thanks to Trezeguet’s first-half brace.

Former Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan are top of Group B after a 0-2 away win over Mauritania, while Senegal were held 1-1 at home against Congo DR.

Benin moved joint-top with Rwanda in Group C after beating them 1-0 courtesy of a Douko Dodo goal in the first half.

In Group D, Libya moved to the top, continuing their unbeaten run. Faisal Al Badri and Ahmed Ekrawa bagged two goals for Libya, while Kevin Bru pulled one back for Mauritius, who remain second-bottom.

Algeria suffered a 1-2 shock home defeat to Guinea, paving the way for their opponents to move joint-top with them in Group G.

Malawi are keeping a touching distance on Tunisia thanks to a commanding victory 3-1 over Sao Tome and Principe.

Ghana earned an important 1-2 away win against Mali in Bamako on Thursday night. Otto Addo’s men came from behind to grab the win courtesy of Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew’s goals.
