2024 ELECTIONS: President Nana Addo to meet president-elect Mahama

Date:

The sitting president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo, will meet with president-elect John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Mr Mahama secured 56.55% of the total ballots cast on December 7 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to beat rival Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become the next president of Ghana.

President Akuffo Addo, despite being a loyalist to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in an official statement through his Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, urged the need for the country to progress with a united front, as he assures to ensure a smooth transition.

“President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on 7th January 2025 and looks forward to working with the president-elect and his team to realise this goal,” wrote Eugene Arhin.

“In the spirit of collaboration, the President has invited the President-elect for a meeting on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process,” the statement added.
