The head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, has praised Nigerian winger Wisdom Fernando Bassey following his team’s 1-0 win over Nsoatreman FC on Wednesday, October 2.
Asante Kotoko took on the defending MTN FA Cup champions in an outstanding match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, in which Bassey impressed.
Bassey received a bit of ridicule after he likened his playing style to the likes of Real Madrid’s duo Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. when he signed for the club before the start of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League season.
Dr Ogum expressed his happiness for the Nigerian who dazzled fans with his skills, speed, and game awareness.
“I think it’s good for him. He came in, his first game, and he even had the opportunity to score. As a team, the players in the dressing room, the technical staff, everybody was happy for him. We are all happy that he came in and made an impact. We only hope that he will keep the momentum when given the opportunity again to play,” Ogum said.
Issaka Mohammed’s own goal handed Kotoko all three points and moves them to sixth on the league standings.
