The draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers took conducted today, April 19, 2022, and Ghana was assigned to Group E.
In a two-legged competition for the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers, the Black Stars will face Madagascar, Angola, and the Central African Republic.
Two of the top teams with the most points would advance out of the group to compete in the next AFCON.
The next edition of the AFCON will be held in Ivory Coast in June-July 2023, and will be hosted by Ghana’s neighbors.
At the 2021 AFCON, the Black Stars had their worst performance, failing to win a single match.
Ghana lost their first match against Morocco, then drew with Gabon before falling to Comoros.
The upcoming edition will be 41 years after Ghana’s previous AFCON victory, which came in the 1982 edition of the African Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars have won a record of four titles at the AFCON and would be looking forward to making it to the next edition of the tournament.
