Former Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has revealed why he kept turning down the advances of Togbe Afede XIV to join Hearts of Oak since 2016.
The former CAF Champions League winners announced the appointment of the former Black Maidens coach on June 20, 2025, to replace Ivorian gaffer Aboubakar Ouattara as head coach.
According to Didi Dramani, he had been pursued by the Phobians for years but never felt ready for the quantum of work awaiting him at the club.
“For years, I told them it was not the right time. Even the last two years they came after AFCON. I told them it was not the right time because it is not proper to take work in season… I kept telling them that if the time comes, why not, so I think this is the time,” he said.
He finally gave in to take over the monumental role at the Accra-based club looking to return to the elite level of football in Africa.
The former Black Stars assistant coach spoke to Josiah Okoe Quaye and the legendary sports journalist Prince Annang in Max TV Ghana’s “1 Top” podcast on YouTube.
