The Black Queens of Ghana made a disappointing start to the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations, WAFCON, in Morocco on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Linda Motlhalo converted a penalty after Grace Asantewaa fouled Noxolo Cesane in the box to hand Banyana Banyana a 28th-minute lead.
South Africa were 2-0 ahead six minutes later. Ramalepe played an exquisite through ball to Seoposenwe, who showed good composure before beating Konlan.
The Black Queens will face Mali, who recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Tanzania in their next match on Friday, July 11.
Saratou Traore found the bottom right corner with a composed finish from the centre of the box following a set-piece situation in the closing minutes of the first half to hand Mali a big win.
