Three men in Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana have been arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms.

The suspects were in a group of five when patrolling police officers sighted them at Goziri near Vieri.

The police swiftly arrested the suspects when they attempted to flee after seeing the officers.

Three cutlasses, three single-barrel guns, and 23 BB cartridges were retrieved from the suspects after a conducted search.

The three suspects have been identified as Yahaya Samad (27), Adams Alhassan (37), and Yiritang Boosi (35).

Following their confession of possessing no licence for the guns, the suspects were remanded and are set to reappear before the Wa Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship Simon Kofi Bediako on February 18, 2026.
