Accra — Renowned gospel chanteuse Amy Newman says today’s gospel music doesn’t sound deep due to how the musicians are quick to fast-track the songs in the studio.
According to her, after some of the musicians gain just a word, they are quick to go to the studio to record instead of praying for lyrical expansion.
She also stated that the current musicians can’t write deeper lyrics due to some men of God today and their shabby preaching.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, the celebrated songstress explained that during her time, pastors preached deeply, which gave her the privilege to write deeper and holy spirit-inclined lyrics.
“”Before I go to the studios, I fast for 21 days with water, and sometimes I do dry fasting for seven days for the Holy Spirit to give me the guidance and the lyrics that will touch hearts when I sing,” she stated.
For gospel musicians to write deeper and Holy Spirit-inclined lyrics, Amy Newman expressed the need for them to build a personal relationship with God, as she believed every gospel singer has a special angel assigned to him or her to give them suitable songs.
