President John Dramani Mahama has reacted amidst mockery of his Fugu outfit by Zambians.
Upon his arrival in Lusaka with his wife, Her Excellency Lordina Mahama, most Zambians ignorantly mocked the elegant Fugu worn by him.
Fugu is a Ghanaian smock attributed distinctively to the people of Northern Ghana, which has even been adopted by other tribes in Ghana.
It portrays a lot of things in Ghanaian culture, including royalty and warrior spirit, because it was worn by warriors to war ages ago.
“Smock has become an integral part of our [Ghanaian] cultural identity,” said President Mahama, who gave his famous 2025 speech at the United Nations 80th General Assembly in fugu.
President Mahama was rather excited that the hot discussion on social media sparked by the Zambians because it has given designers and traders of the traditional attire free global advertisement.
