The chair of the Interim Management Committee of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, has urged the players to focus on the future.
He addressed the players at the club’s training base at Adako Jachie in the Ashanti Region ahead of the second Super Clash tie over the weekend.
Especially with Karim Zito resigning as head coach of Kotoko on Monday, February 9, 2026, the camp needed a morale booster.
“We can’t afford further excuses. It’s redemption time, and let’s leave the past behind and focus on what is ahead. We must redeem ourselves on Sunday,” said Nana Apinkra.
The club’s hierarchy were believed to have lost confidence in Zito after their exit from the 2025-26 MTN FA Cup last Sunday in front of their home crowd.
Though he [Zito] was given a final ultimatum to turn the season around against eternal rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash, he decided to put down his tools and make an exit.
