The second edition of the Democracy Cup is set to be officially launched on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the D.F. Annan Auditorium, Parliament House, Accra.
Organized under the auspices of the Parliament of Ghana, the Democracy Cup is an annual football initiative aimed at deepening Ghana’s democratic values through sports, national unity, and youth engagement.
The tournament brings together selected parliamentary and club teams in a competitive but friendly football environment to honour Ghana’s democratic journey.
This year’s edition is expected to draw dignitaries including the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Members of Parliament, sports administrators, and former footballers. The event will unveil fixtures, participating teams, venues, and activities leading up to the main match day.
“The Democracy Cup is more than a game — it’s a national celebration of peace, governance, and teamwork,” a Parliament spokesperson said ahead of the launch.
The 2025 launch follows a successful maiden edition, which attracted massive public support and media coverage. Organizers have assured stakeholders of an even bigger experience this year.
