Alhaji Brimah Akambi, a board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, has claimed that if Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV steps down, the club will fall apart like Kumasi Cornerstone.
The club’s troubles have been attributed by the supporters on Togbe’s allegedly poor judgments to keep particular individuals in the club’s management.
The club would end up in the gutters, like Venomous Vipers and Cornerstone if Togbe deserts the Phobians, warns Akambi, one of the heads desired by the fans, if supporters don’t support every choice made by the Board Chairman.
“If care is not taken and Togbe Afede XIV moves away from Hearts of Oak, the gospel truth is that the club will turn to Venomous Vipers FC or Cornerstone FC,” he said in an interview.
“So I will urge the supporters to support the club and the board and rally behind the club in prayers,” he added.
Back in the day, Corners and Vipers were fantastic teams who regularly produced and competed in the top division of the nation.
Vipers are now playing in the second-tier competition, while Corners are in the very lower division.
Hearts of Oak is mostly owned by Togbe Afede. 2009 saw his takeover of the club. The most prosperous year under his direction was 2021, when he won his first League championship. They earned two more trophies in 2022 after winning three in 2021.
In Pobiman, Accra, he is almost finished building Ghana’s first cutting-edge training facility for Hearts of Oak.
