The Head of Public Events and Communication for Charterhouse Productions Ltd, Mr Robert Klah, has called on musicians to respect the Telecel Ghana Music Awards scheme.
This follows the pronouncement of Gospel singer Joe Mettle not to participate in the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Showbiz Max on Saturday, Klah noted that it was normal for Joe Mettle to take a temporary break in order to forge ahead.
“Some artists decide not to participate in the awards scheme in a particular year when they have not been active or released many songs, so it’s normal to express zero interest in participating in the year under review. People have many reasons for not participating,” he said.
Klah observed that what had made Joe Mettle’s decision attract public attention was announcing it to the public.
” We are okay with his decision because it’s normal, but they (musicians) also have to respect the institution for whatever reason if they feel that they are not going to participate in the awards scheme to maintain its integrity to the general public,” he added.
