Vocalist Efya Nokturnal has called on authorities to castrate men who sexually abuse women.

According to her, that will serve as a deterrent and will dissuade men from raping a woman.

In a recent media interview, the singer lamented how the lenient punishment was enabling the perpetrators to continue with the act.

We should get some drastic punishments for those who commit gender-based violence. Some of these people, when they get arrested, are granted bail and are allowed out into the society to do that. It doesn’t serve as a deterrent to them or others,” she said.

Efya further called for stricter measures in curbing such acts, stressing that “I wish that those who commit rape offences get castrated for their act.”
