Bibiani Goldstars aim to retain the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title, according to Samuel Kwagyire, Public Relations Officer of the club.
Goldstars’ run in the 2024/25 GPL resulted in their first-ever triumph, beating Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko to the title.
Mr Kwagire expressed extreme confidence in the club’s ability to successfully defend the title following news of the appointment of Maxwell Konadu as head coach.
After weeks of deliberation and negotiations with former Kotoko head coaches Maxwell Konadu and Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, Goldstars opted for the former.
The club is eager for a good organisation for a successful defence of the title, for which Maxwell Konadu was earmarked to lead the project.
Max FM’s sports journalist, Ernest Nana Adu, played down Goldstars’ title chances, stating emphatically, “Bibiani Goldstars cannot win the league.”
The management of Goldstars believe the appointment of Konadu serves as a morale booster for the playing staff as they seek to return to continental club competition.
