Tokyo World Athletics: Rose Yeboah Secures High Jump Final Slot

Date:

Ghana’s rising athletics star, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, has qualified for the final of the women’s high jump event at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, following an impressive performance in Thursday’s qualification round.

The 22-year-old cleared 1.92 meters, placing 9th overall among a competitive field of the world’s top high jumpers and earning her a spot in Sunday’s eagerly anticipated final, scheduled for Sunday, September 21.

She is the first Ghanaian ever to qualify for the final of the high jump at the World Athletics Championships.

A former University of Cape Coast (UCC) student, Yeboah delivered a calm and confident series of jumps.

She cleared the key height of 1.92 meters on her second attempt, after successfully clearing the earlier heights on her first tries. The mark was enough to secure her place in the final.

This achievement marks yet another milestone in Yeboah’s rapidly ascending career. She previously claimed gold at the 2023 African Games and the 2024 African Championships, and now stands on the brink of history — aiming to become the first Ghanaian woman to win a field event medal at the World Championships.
