According to reports, the officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stationed at Ashaiman has promised to support the man he saved who attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday, August 20.
The incident occurred at Adjei Kojo in Tema West Municipality when the man, believed to be in his early 50s, climbed onto an electric pylon.
He told reporters that resorting to commit suicide was his only option because of his inability to cover medical bills for his kidney disease.
“When I got the disease, I went to a health centre at Ashaiman Polyclinic, and they referred me to Tema General Hospital.
At Tema General Hospital, they also directed me to go to UGMC. I have walked for a while now, and I’m tired. I don’t know what to do. I decided to go there, but they told me I wouldn’t be able to pay the bills.”
