Columbus —
Ghanaian international Yaw Yeboah has received a lifetime ban from the American Major League Soccer.
The former Ghana U-20 international received the ban for violating the MLS gambling policy.
Yeboah was banned alongside former Columbus Crew teammate Derrick Jones.
Both players placed a bet on Jones to receive a yellow card in a match against the New York Red Bulls on October 19, 2024, and shared the tip with outsiders.
MLS retained the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP to conduct an investigation, and the players were placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the review.
MLS concluded that the players engaged in extensive gambling on soccer, including on their teams, during the 2024 and 2025 seasons after the review.
