Nigerians have taken to social media to express their immense disappointment in Ghanaian Referee Daniel Nii Laryea.

This follows after the Super Eagles of Nigeria lost the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to host country Morocco on penalties.

Fans of the Super Eagles, mostly Nigerians, believe Referee Laryea is to be blamed for their team’s failure to reach their second consecutive final.

Contrary to the beliefs and assertions of many of them, others commended Referee Laryea for the manner he officiated the highly tensed game.

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel called the referee appalling in a post-reaction, but congratulated Morocco.
