The government has laid down the plans and activities to be expected during the 69th independence day celebrations, scheduled for the 6th of March, 2026.
The national event is to be held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House, which is the seat of the president.
The national event is usually held at Black Star Square, but due to the scaled-down approach adopted in recent years to reduce high costs and expenses, the event will be held at the Jubilee House.
This year’s official theme is “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope”. This theme is in accordance with the government’s goal to restructure the economy and to restore confidence among citizens.
The government also plans a smaller, formal state event rather than a large-scale celebration. Security under the national event will be very high. Only authorised cameras and tripods will be allowed. Gadgets such as drones will be prohibited.
Even though the event will be a small-scale event, citizens in the cities and towns across the country will join the celebration from their various vicinities to reflect the rich cultural heritage of the country.
