Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence designate, in the Mahama administration’s bid to fight galamsey, has revealed technological plans to battle the canker.
At his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Dr. Omane Boamah unveiled innovations he intends to incorporate in the fight against galamsey.
To avoid any sort of compromise in the fight, drones equipped with cameras and weapons would be effective against potentially violent galamseyers.
“Human beings sometimes get compromised if they stay on these operations for a long time,” he explained.
“But if you dispatch a UAV, a drone, to go on some lands and send you the exact picture of what is happening, who is going to bribe a drone?” he asked.
