Asante Kotoko clinched a hard-fought 2-1 victory over True Democracy at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, securing their place in the MTN FA Cup semifinals.
The Porcupine Warriors started brightly, opening the scoring in the 13th minute through Saaka Dauda. The forward reacted quickly to a well-taken throw-in and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper to give Kotoko an early advantage.
Kotoko continued to dominate possession and created several chances to extend their lead. Their best opportunity came in the 38th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Kwame Opoku was fouled inside the box. However, Justice Blay failed to capitalize, striking the post and allowing True Democracy to stay in contention.
Despite the miss, Kotoko maintained their attacking pressure in the second half, determined to put the game beyond reach.
