Real Madrid have cancelled the trip of their entire expedition to Paris for the Ballon d’Or gala, including Vinicius , suggesting that the Brazilian has not been the winner of the prestigious award.
The plane booked by Real Madrid was scheduled to leave Adolfo Suárez Barajas airport at 3pm , but the club, in response to information received from Paris, have cancelled the expedition, which included 50 people. A huge surprise that suggests that Madrid already has the information that Vini is not the chosen one as the best footballer in the world.
The 50 members who were travelling to Paris had been in Valdebebas since 2pm and alarm bells started ringing when not a soul moved from the Ciudad Deportiva. Something strange was going on in the Ciudad Deportiva and it was nothing less than the player and Madrid were already beginning to suspect that he was not going to be the main protagonist of the gala.
Eleven nominees and Rodrigo is the favorite
Real Madrid had eleven nominations for the awards that France Football and UEFA will be giving out tonight in Paris. In addition to the clear favourite for the Ballon d’Or, Vinicius, there were Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, Toni Kroos (retired), Vinicius, Carvajal, Mbappé and Rüdiger.
Ancelotti was among the nominees for best coach, which will go to Luis De la Fuente. Arda Güler was among the nominees for the Kopa trophy, which rewards the best young player. And Lunin was among the nominees for the Yashin trophy. Neither of these players nor their respective families will be in Paris, leaving the gala in a lacklustre manner.
The clear favourite right now is the Spaniard Rodrigo Hernández, who won the European Championship with Spain and was MVP of the tournament. The Spanish footballer had a spectacular season, also winning the Premier League and the FA Cup, although he was missing the icing on the cake of the Champions League, a competition from which he was eliminated by Real Madrid.
Rodrigo’s Ballon d’Or, which has yet to be confirmed, would reward a player who has been decisive for Manchester City in recent seasons and who two seasons ago brought his club the Champions League with a goal in the final against Inter. After two seasons at the highest level, the world of football would reward his spectacular performance. The midfielder would also become the second Spaniard to win the Ballon d’Or, after Luis Suárez.
