Veteran gospel musician, Edward Akwasi Boateng, has landed in trouble after the current feud among Daddy Lumba’s widows triggered him to process his divorce with his estranged wife.
According to him, when he fast-tracked the divorce process at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), his estranged wife was demanding custody of their four children and 50 per cent ownership of his Kumasi home.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Edward Boateng revealed that his ex identified as Genevieve, served him with court papers seeking half of the property, while she had returned the bride price from their marriage. They had been separated for five years.
Court documents, he referenced, indicated that Genevieve was claiming that the said house was built during their marriage and that she assisted him in securing a loan, making her entitled to half of the property.
However, Akwasi Boateng disputed that he was the sole person who funded the construction through proceeds from his music career and some benevolent Ghanaians, including Afia Schwarzenegger, Tracey Boakye, and Pastor El Bernard.
“As for this house, she wasn’t with me when I built it. This house is for Ghanaians — they helped me build it,” he alleged.
Akwasi Boateng further indicated that he was the one who made his estranged wife abroad travelling possible, buying her a car, and helping her secure a UK passport.
He stated that what he was facing was a test of faith and believed as a Christian he would overcome such tribulations.
